3 Tips to Get Your Lawn Ready for Spring Lawn Care
Spring has officially sprung here in Atlanta. You can tell because the flowers and trees are blooming, the sun is shining, and absolutely everything is covered in a dusty layer of yellow pollen. As annoying as those springtime allergies may be, there’s no denying that it’s one of the prettiest times of the year. But is your lawn looking as beautiful as the spring flowers? If you want a lush, green lawn this spring and summer, you’ve come to the right place. Keep reading to learn how to get your lawn ready for spring lawn care. Prepare for Spring with These Lawn Care Tips
Do some spring cleaning.
Spring cleaning isn’t just for inside your home! To achieve a beautiful lawn, it’s important to start with a clean foundation. That means getting rid of leaves, branches, twigs, and all the other yard debris that accumulated during the winter. Leaving dead organic material laying around on your lawn is a recipe for disease and infestation, especially as the humidity continues to rise.
Get in a good mowing routine.
Mowing your lawn is much more than “just for looks.” It actually has a big impact on the overall health of your lawn, so it’s important to get into a good lawn mowing routine starting now and continuing through the summer. While every lawn has unique factors to keep in mind (grass species, sun exposure, drainage, etc.), weekly mowing is typically the best frequency for Atlanta lawns. At the fastest-growing times, like after heavy rainfall, you may even want to mow more than once a week. Just remember that you never want to cut more than one third of the height at a time, so if you miss a week, you might need to mow higher once and then lower a couple of days later. (Check out our past blog posts for more lawn mowing tips.)
Give your grass room to breathe.
Grass needs air circulation to breathe, allowing it to take in carbon dioxide from both the air and the soil. Typically, atmospheric air exposure isn’t a problem, but many homeowners don’t realize that their lawns are compacted and full of thatch, preventing grass from getting enough CO2 from the soil. The remedy is core aeration, which basically removes cores (or plugs) of earth from your lawn to allow for more air circulation. Lawn aeration also allows for more water and nutrients to reach the roots.

I have been with these guys for one whole season. 99.9% of the weeds are gone. The grass has never been so green. They have lived up to their name.
My lawn looks awesome and I have had neighbors walking their dogs tell me the same! Thanks Simply Green!
Simply Green always does an excellent job and are very customer oriented. The technicians are more knowledgeable than those of other companies I have tried.
Please let your staff that serviced my lawn aeration and fertilization yesterday know that they did an EXCELLENT JOB! My lawn is doing better than it ever has. And because of them and the rest of the techs that come out to my house, I'll remain a loyal customer of Simply Green. Great job!
I just had another comment this morning on how good our fescue lawn looks, which happens several times a week. I walked out in our back yard this AM and couldn't believe it was the same yard as what I dealt with last year. We have a good lawn maintenance crew that takes care of mowing and edging, and we have a good company that takes care of weeding, feeding, and shrubbery & trees. I enjoy telling friends and neighbors about your service. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Happened to be home and Ben was treating the yard. He took meticulous care in the treatment. Please convey my thanks to him.
