Build your Own Backyard Fire Pit

Here at Simply Green Lawn Care, we love fall! The cool weather, brisk breeze and a beautiful array of red, yellow and orange leaves fill the trees and slowly fall to the ground. It is a wonderful season. There are a number of different ways to enjoy the fall weather, but one of the best is right in your backyard! Fire pits are a great way to relax outdoors with family and friends, and making one is easier than you might think. Follow these steps to build the perfect DIY fire pit in your backyard:

  1. Section off the area where you want the fire pit to be, and dig down in that area to a depth of about 6 inches. Place gravel and rubble within the hole you’ve just dug.
  2. Begin laying your bricks around the hole. Try to make sure that your base layer is level to avoid the bricks falling down into the fire or on you. This is where selecting level ground is important.
  3. Once that is complete, place two more brick layers on top of your base and stager them like a brick house.
  4. The last step is the best. Enjoy it! It’s time to encircle the pit with lawn chairs and invite over some friends for snacks and stories. Have fun!
